LCD monitors are a great way to save space and get high resolution graphics without the bulk, or lead, of a CRT monitor. However, LCD monitors do have drawbacks. One of these is what people call a "dead pixel." Basically, a dead pixel appears as a small black spot on your screen. A stuck pixel can also appear black, though it can also be blue, green or red, as well.

The difference between a dead pixel and stuck pixel is subtle (that is to non-techies), but it is important to note. A stuck pixel can usually be fixed, while a dead pixel can be the result of failed hardware and may not be able to be fixed. Either way, attempting the repair of your monitor, or monitors, will help you decide which it is. There are actually several ways in which to do this.

Massaging, Pressing or Tapping:

1. Turn off power to the monitor. If you are using a laptop, you'll need to turn off the entire machine.
2. Put gentle pressure on the dead pixel with your finger or the end of a pencil eraser. If you're worried about smudges or scratches, get a clean damp cloth. Protect your screen while doing this and do not apply too much pressure.
3. Turn the power back on.
4. Gently rub the spot where the dead pixel is located, until the color begins to change. You may need to do this for anywhere from several minutes to several times within an hour. A variation of this method is to gently tap the area where the pixel is located, with a black background in place. And remember, always be gentle with the screen or you will cause more damage.
5. When the pixel is repaired, use a white background to make sure that it is the right color.

Color Flashing:

1. Download a freeware color flashing program. These are specifically designed to stimulate the dead pixel, as well as those around it. One such program is a small, rapidly flashing square, which can be dragged over the pixel.
2. Leave the program running for at least 1 hour. If, at the end of that hour, the pixel is still stuck or dead, you may need to use a full screen version and let it run for as much as half a day (12 hours).

It is very important to understand that none of these methods is guaranteed to work. Trial and error may give you the results that you want, but you might just be stuck with that annoying dead pixel. Also, if you're going to try to send your monitor in for replacement under warranty, understand that a dead pixel is not considered grounds for replacement by most manufacturers.

Of course, many users are not bothered by a dead pixel, especially if you have dual monitors or one large monitor and that dead or stuck pixel is just one in a sea of pixels and space. It helps, however, to start out with a quality LCD Monitor, so make sure you purchase a trusted brand. HP LCD Monitors, Samsung LCD Monitors, and Sony LCD Monitors are just a few of the reliable brands. Remember, if it's some off-name brand you've never heard of and the price seems too good to be true, it is. If you do run in to a stuck or dead pixel, try the instructions above and there's a decent chance you'll revive the pixel.

Darjeeling tea and Earl Grey tea are two of the most popular black teas available for you.  Because black teas are popular, they are widely available in the market and cheaper too than traditional green teas.  In Japan and China, a black tea is more commonly known as red tea.  This type of tea can be prepared using hot or cold water.  Whether hot or cold, a black tea will generally retain its full bodied flavor which is more robust than the light textured green tea.  That is why avid tea lovers usually prefer a black tea because of its strong flavors.  

One of the best black brews you can enjoy is the Darjeeling tea.  This tea originated in India and is considered as the finest tea in the world.  The Darjeeling produces a light but strong bodied brew with an equally strong floral aroma.  Its liquor is generally lighter than any type of black tea.  The Darjeeling tea has a musky taste with a distinct spicy flavor.  Most tea experts refer to this specific flavor as muscatel flavor.  Aside from the spicy taste, the Darjeeling tea can also display some astringent taste qualities.  When you drink a Darjeeling black tea, you will feel a cool aftertaste which will be a little sweeter and lighter than the original brew.

The Earl Grey tea on the other hand is technically not a tea variety but a blended tea.  This blend was created by Earl Charles Grey of Britain way back in the 1830s.  It has become very popular since then because of its tart and refreshing qualities.  The Earl Grey tea is basically a pure black tea laced with citrus and bergamot.  The citrus flavor gives the tea its refreshing taste while the bergamot provides the sweetness and the orange blossom hints.  The Earl Grey is a perfect brew if prepared in warm water.  However, you can also opt to prepare it with ice cold water and add some flavoring like lemon or honey.  This tea is an old time favorite in the United Kingdom and the U.S. 

There are also other popular varieties of black tea such as the lapsang souchong and the English breakfast tea.  The lapsang souchong tea has a very unique pine smoked flavor.  It is normally served hot so you can enjoy the unique smoky and musky flavor of fresh pine.  The English breakfast tea on the other hand is another type of tea blend with the black tea as primary ingredient.  Generally, processing of the black tea leaves involves many hours of drying.  After picking, the leaves will be dried for 18 hours or more until all the moisture content has been eliminated.  The leaves are processed to attain blackness and fired in order to stop oxidation.  The final firing process retains the flavor and aroma of the leaves. 

A black tea is high in caffeine but it is rich in flavonoids which is good for the heart.  The Darjeeling and Earl Grey also display certain anti-inflammatory properties and can help maintain the normal blood sugar levels of an average adult.  Most importantly, a black tea is very flavorful so every sip would be very satisfying.

Pedestrian Bridge, Texas

This beautiful arched bridge in Lake Austin was a private build by Miro Rivera Architects and is used to connect the client's main house to the smaller guesthouse on the other side of the water. The idea was to make the bridge seem as natural as possible within its surroundings and to do this they made the decking and reed-like hand rails as imperfect as possible. The result is a bridge that looks extremely fragile but definitely worth the risk.

Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Opened in May of this year, the Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge is a stunning x-shaped cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Pinheiros River in Sao Paulo. It's design is unique in that the 2 curved decks of the bridge cross each other through its x-shaped supporting tower, an illuminated structure that stands 450ft tall and has attached to it 144 steel cables.

Kintaikyo, Iwakuni, Japan

The original Kintai Bridge was built in 1673 and didn't stand very long until it was damaged due to flooding. It was then rebuilt and survived for more than 200 years until a typhoon battered it to death in 1950. The bridge that stands now over the Nishiki Riveris the 3rd build and looks magnificent, it's 5 wooden arches displaying an incredible amount of detail and craftsmanship. Interesting fact: no nails or bolts have been used to build the arches, only clamps and wires.

Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge, Brasilia, Brazil

The JK Bridge in Brasilia is a lesson in elegant bridge design.. The 3 huge arches diagonally hopping over the deck of the bridge give the structure an amazing visual fluidity and make the whole 1.2km bridge look effortlessly cool. Since being built the bridge has won awards for its design but is still massively under appreciated on a wider scale.

Beipanjiang River Railroad Bridge in Guizhou is an enormous railway bridge that was built as part of the much larger 'Guizhou-Shuibai Railway Project'. Connecting 2 mountains over a deep ravine, at its highest point the bridge's deck sits 918ft above the ground (to compare, at its highest point the Millau viaduct's deck clears the river underneath by 890ft). The bridge has succeeded in connecting 2 of the country's poorest areas.

Henderson Waves, Southern Ridges, Singapore

'Henderson Waves' is Singapore's highest pedestrian bridge and can be found at the southern ridges, a beautiful 9km stretch of gardens and parks which has frequently drawn comparisons to New York's Central Park. The bridge itself is absolutely stunning. The deck is made from thousands of Balau wood slats, perfectly cut and arranged, and along the length of the deck a huge snaking, undulating shell cleverly forms sheltered seating areas on every upward curve.

This is the incredible, brand new vertical lift bridge in Rouen, France, a beast of a structure whose 2 bridge spans weigh 1200tons each but can be hoisted 180ft vertically by the bridge's lifting mechanism in an impressive 12 minutes. Just the angular structures at the top of each tower weigh in at 450tons each, helping to support the lifting system as cruise ships sail through.

Hegigio Gorge Pipeline Bridge, Southern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea

Technically, this is a bridge: it's a structure, which spans a gorge. The only difference is, the bridge can't be used by humans due to the fact that its purpose is to support 2 pipelines - 1 gas, 1 oil - across the extremely high gap in Papua New Guinea. So high in fact that if this were to be officially recognized as a bridge it would rocket to the top of the 'world's highest bridge-span' list at an impressive height of 1290ft. By comparison, the current highest bridge span belongs to the Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado, hanging a mere 1053ft above ground level, while Manhattan's Chrysler Building measures 1047ft.

Chief Crazy Captain Christo was recently seen discussing plans with a former Major League pitcher who was born in the Netherlands. Since this pitcher could never grow up to be President of the United States, he became focused on the next best thing in his mind. You see Bert Blyleven was destined for greatness as a bad ass pitcher in the Major League Baseball juggernaut known as the MLB. But lately Mr. Blyleven has been passed over by voters for The HALL of FAME! So, in his own inimitable style, Chief Crazy Captain Christo called a ROUND TABLE discussion group together and it was unanimous. After the discussion, Chief Crazy Captain Christo was voted to go and tell Bert Blyleven the Good and the Bad News along with the ugly TRUTH.

For this conversation that will take place in the new Twins stadium sometime between the years of 2011 and 2013 ( filmed by Rob Zombie!) Chief Crazy Captain Christo is disguised as the O-R ange Catcher in the Buff or CA-BU and Bert Blyleven is the Pitcher on the Mound or CHER-MOUND

To set up the scene for Rob Zombie, Bert Blyleven is throwing out the first pitch at the first World Series game ever played at the Twins stadium. As the crowd looks on in horror, Bert Blyleven winds up like he was playing for real and throws a worm burner to Chief Crazy Captain Christo. Only Chief Crazy Captain Christo wasn't paying attention. You see the new score board just happened to be playing the provocative dance from Penelope Cruz from the movie NINE. So naturally Chief Crazy Captain Christo's thoughts were on CLOUD NINE. The ball that Bert Blyleven threw hit Chief Crazy Captain Christo in the privates and after nine minutes of extreme discomfort, we pick up the conversation Enjoy!

CHER-MOUND-" I thought you said you could catch anything. What ( Rob Zombies song Thumpin in the Background) I say What was wrong with that pitch."

CA-BU-" Hey I was distracted by a Pair a Cruz's ..."

CHER-MOUND-" You're a disgrace to the sport of baseball. Look at you, you're naked, save the mask and the catcher's mitt and the chest protector and the spikes. On top of that, you just got beaned by my curveball in front of the first World Series crowd ever to see a World Series game at the new Twins stadium and a huge audience watching on FOX SPORTS Network. Chief Crazy Captain Christo stands up, dusts himself off and asks Rob Zombie for the microphone.

Mr. Zombie, barely able to pick himself up because he was laughing so hard he fell back in his electric directors chair, hands the microphone ( mega-phone you can choose whichever) over to Chief Crazy Captain Christo who is standing and bleeding on home plate.
